Mary Jordan has created a valuable guide to carers with a lot of practical information and quotes from carers.

My mother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s a couple of years ago, so I am one of those six million carers whose life has been changed as a result. I wish I had a copy of this book then as I have found the author has dealt with all the physical and emotional strains the caring role brings with it.

The ‘Useful Contacts’ section is excellent. Carers need to know that, if they cannot deal with a particular problem, there is always an answer on the Internet or at the end of the telephone. The Internet is particularly useful for support groups day and night, there always seems to be someone there to listen.

There is a lot of information in the book and it will be of use to any carer whether they are looking after young or old.

All GP practices, hospitals and care associations should have a copy of this book.
