The CD explains the Alexander Technique is not a therapy but a series of tools and is a learning process.
For anyone who is interested in improving their posture, altering how they move and becoming aware of their
body, this is an excellent place to start.
Most of the techniques are taught lying on the floor, with your knees bent and head supported, if you find
this difficult you may have problems.I found it difficult, but persevered, and I am glad I did.

But despite this, the book gave a very positive practical approach to a problem that
affects so many people’s lives. The Wharton’s have written very clearly, taking away some the fear that
often comes with pain. They approach back pain through Kineisiology, which uses exercise of muscles and body
strengthening as its main theme. The advice on treatment options and pain management is very clear and
concise. It is non judgemental, expressing that each back is individual. The book has a matter of fact,
practical way of living with the least amount of back pain.
Personally I wish I had seen this book some twenty years ago, as it may have made me treat my back more
kindly over the years. It is one of those invaluable books that you can refer back to for advice on exercise
techniques. The main message of this book is to stay supple and mobile to help reduce your pain.
