The first thing that struck me about this book was the picture of the beautiful scenery captured in a glass bottle on the front cover.

The fields of meadow flowers draw you further in amongst tall fir trees standing out against snow capped mountains and a deep blue sky. Wonderful!

Each chapter is complete in itself. This isn’t a book you need to read right through from cover to cover but a book you can dip into at any relevant chapter depending on your needs at any particular time.
Pain Relief without drugs - Jan Sadler
A quote from Hippocrates appears at the beginning of the first chapter, or ‘unit’: “The natural healing force within each one of us is the greatest force in getting well.” It becomes obvio us as you read through that Jan fully believes this and encourages her readers to do likewise. Throughout the book readers are encouraged to recognise and release their inbuilt strengths and natural healing powers in order to reduce their pain.

The book is written in an easy to read style. Full explanations and instructions are given alongside the practical exercises. Various relaxation techniques are explained and presented followed by the importance of cultivating a positive attitude. Examples are given to illustrate just how a negative attitude can affect those who suffer with long-term pain.

A 55-minute CD is included with the book and this takes the listener through the relaxation and visualisation exercises described in detail in the book. The CD is designed to be used in conjunction with the book and each serve to enhance the other. I would highly recommend this clear, well-written book which has a wealth of practical information, advice and easy to follow techniques.
